“But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever”. Psalm 52:8

15 months seeing the sun shine

My eyes are lifted up to the hills: O where will my help come from?
Your help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
May he not let your foot be moved: no need of sleep has he who keeps you.
See, the eyes of Israel's keeper will not be shut in sleep.

The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
You will not be touched by the sun in the day, or by the moon at night.
The Lord will keep you safe from all evil; he will take care of your soul.
The Lord will keep watch over your going out and your coming in, from this time and for ever.
Psalm 121

This week we celebrated Vitoria´s 15 months of life! See how happy she is!
We love her so much and we are so thankful to God for her precious life.
God bless you, dear Vitoria, we hope that you be always very, very happy!

Our beloved Vitoria is pretty good! Chubby, smiling and healthy!

One month ago she began wearing a hearing aid, and we could note many changes in her behavior. She is more aware and scaring by loud noises. She is paying more attention to our voices and interacting more in physiotherapy and during activities like having lunch and dinner.
She is also wearing new orthosis in her right club-foot. Well, it is not the more confortable thing to wear but, see how beautiful they are, in pink and with blue butterflies.

tibial torsion splint

The tibial torsion splint seems to be more comfortable, and Vitoria can not take it off by herself, as she was doing with the dennis brown boots

it is preventing the foot from bending again

We also took her to a neuro-ophthalmologist, since we still don´t have a final diagnosis about her vision. We´ve already took her to two ophthalmologist that couldn´t tell us if Vitoria is totally blind, or if she can see something. Although her eyes are perfect, she has optic nerve hypoplasia, and since we use our brain to see, and her brain is a great enigma, they don´t know what to say.
The neuro-ophthalmologist gave us good news. She told Vitoria is presenting pupillary reflexes, what means her pupils are changing in size according to the ambient light (she didn´t have these reflexes when she was younger). This means although Vitoria  has a visual impairment, she is not completely blind. Doctor believes that Vitoria is developing visual perception of light, and that she can develop more perceptions (like of colors and figures, for example), as she grows up.

Last weeks were very tiring with lot of doctor appointments almost everyday. She is pretty good, but since she has multiple disabilities, we need to visit many specialists to see if we are doing everything possible to help as much as possible in her development.

But we also had amazing moments, strolling in the sunny days, playing and exercising. And finally peacefully sleeping after so many appointments.

We know even though our precious baby can not see perfectly, the eyes of our Father are always looking for her. Even when we get tired and sleep, we know our God is always alert, taking care of us all the time.
